So one of the traditions I enjoyed in Sweden was after work drinks. So grab something, turn on your camera and microphone, and join me at meet.small-tech.org/friday-aft (and help me test out our Jitsi instance.)

PS. It might go up in flames :)

Mozilla signs fresh Google search deal worth mega-millions as 25% staff cut hits Servo, MDN, security teams

Within hours of the browser maker laying off a quarter of its staff this week, a well-placed source told The Register Moz had signed a three-year agreement with Google. On Thursday, a spokesperson for Mozilla confirmed the partnership had been renewed though declined to go into specific detail on the contract duration and sums of money involved.

theregister.com/2020/08/14/moz

Was dispersing the MDN and Rust teams part of the deal?

RT @finlaydag33k What a surprise... during this pandemic, while a lot of people lost their jobs, the rich cunts got significantly richer.

Just an idea... but what if those richies actually started to support the other people?
Just a suggestion of course.

Something is just wrong here... Mozilla just extended its deal with Google (making it the numero uno search engine) for something like 400 million dollars PER YEAR. For the next three years.

That is 1.2 BILLION dollars from 2020 to 2023.

If you cannot run a freaking NON-PROFIT on 400 MILLION dollars PER YEAR that means:

a) You are paying your executives too much.
b) You don't know how to manage a non-profit.
c) All of the above.

That must be it - but it is a false sense of security anyway. Because M$ wont helt you if your system shits'its'pants - because "it is your own fault" basically

Yeah it is so strange.
I find everything with Windows adminstration bad actually, everything from the horrible eventviewer that gives me strokes and strokes to the stupid registry.

Meanwhile, a modern distro have all the tools needed for fixing stuff. And it is often just a single configuration that needs to be changed.

@selea Try something simple... like replacing an SSL certificate in Exchange Server. Stuff breaks, powershell hacks are required... and that's when you follow their instructions.

Yeah, it is frustrating and it feel like they overcomplicate stuff in order to generate work for their support-team or something.

And here I am - using Linux and Free Software.

I have a problem or something that I want to do? Sure, here in the 5 easy step to accomplish that! Oh btw, here is a free program that you can use if you want.

selea :trisquel: selea@social.linux.pizza

After have been using and working with Windows during the last 12 month (new job), I have even more questioned the reason why companies or individuals actually chose to use it.

If you want to do simple stuff, like disabling TLS1.0 och TLS1.1 in Windows - you have to follow a 100 step program OR buy a program that does it for you.

And if you want to do B - follow this 50 step stupid guide OR buy this program that does it for you.
